Incrprates a phase cnsisting f a (S)-2-hydrxy prpyl ethyl ether derivative f β-cycldextrin. This phase separates a wide variety f enantiers, reslving aliphatic, lefinic, and aratic enantiers. It is a gd general purpse chiral clun.

The first general purpse derivative invlved substitutin f the cycldextrin hydrxyl grups with pure "S" hydrxyprpyl fllwed by perethylatin. The surface is hydrphilic in character and the influence f size and shape selectivity is greatly reduced but nt absent. The beta-cycldextrin* fr has the bradest applicability.
